In the Blink of an Eye Wash Station

Every time we blink, we are lubricating one of the most sensitive and most used parts of the body, our eyes. In a single day, we may blink anywhere from 18,000 to 24,000 times. As it turns out, children and infants actually blink far less than their parents, sometimes ranging from 1 to 2 times per minute, whereas teenagers and young adults will blink with a range of 8 to 10 times per minute. Some have suggested the reason is that children tend to get far more sleep than the average adult, leading to a big difference in eye fatigue.

So what happens if a child, whose eyes don’t blink as often, accidentally gets splashed with a stinging chemical in the science lab? An eye wash sink is ideal, but many teachers don’t have this option, so they send them to a traditional sink where water gets splashed around without much of it resolving the emergency of the student. What you need is a high level washing station designed to provide backup safety in the case of such emergencies.

Consider an emergency safety station featuring oak and oak veneer construction. The unit has an emergency drench shower of high impact ABS plastic with a stay open chrome plated brass valve. The eyewash is a 10″ diameter stainless steel bowl, with lever action ball valve on a epoxy top. Upper storage space is supplied with two adjustable shelves. The lower cabinet features locking doors for security. This unit is not self contained.
